Guest Reviews

We are proud and delighted to share with you reviews left by guests who have visited Le Moulin.

In 2025 we decided to dedicate our summer to family visitors and old friends meaning that most of our reviews are from 2024 and earlier.  Apart from one from a guest who had booked very early!

“We have so enjoyed our stay at Le Moulin and especially our lovely dinners and the conversation.  We feel we have known you for ages!”

“Thank you so much for a wonderful week’s stay.  Our first experience of a ‘chambres d’hotes’ .  Your hospitality, advice and help on where to visit – and the food!!!  Delicious!  You have a beautiful place here that we have been privileged to share.”

Carol and Jim, Lincolnshire, England   August 2024

“It was two days in paradise. Everything was perfect and so many sweet little things, better than home. A dream holiday, the welcome, the attention from Joanna and Stephen, the dream bedroom and bathroom, and a delicious dinner. We felt like royalty”.

“We have so much enjoyed our stay with you.  Thank you for your amazing hospitality.  It is such a beautiful, peaceful place and we have so much enjoyed your attention to detail – beautifully presented breakfasts, cold water in the rooms and the fans switched on when hot.  It has also been good to share some delicious dinners and to get to know you a little more.  Altogether a perfect few days and an excellent place to meet friends.”

Sue and David, Surrey, England  August 2024

“What a lovely stay, with fantastic hosts.  The attention to detail is perfect …. the flowers from the garden, the locally produced soap, the letter coasters….. I could go on.  A gorgeous location, beautiful grounds and gardens, comfy beds, tasty breakfasts.  Wish we could stay longer.  PS. We love Otto and Neo and Big Cat!”

Le Moulin d’Alos is a gem. We have spent many holidays in the Tarn but this Chambres d’Hôtes rivals all previous accommodation. It is set in an undulating landscape of vineyards and sunflowers, close to many delightful medieval villages. The mill is most tastefully restored. Our room was perfect and opening the shutters each day was a joy. A delicious breakfast is served in the wisteria arbour and there are cushioned loungers by the beautiful pool. Table d’hôtes is offered – great food wine and conversation. Our hosts make guests feel special”

Susan and Arthur, Leicester

“Thanks for a truly fabulous stay at Le Moulin d’Alos.  It really could not have been nicer.  Your very kind, warm and wholehearted hospitality really made our holiday.  We very much enjoyed eating dinner with you and fellow guests.  The food and company made for very enjoyable and interesting evenings.

The settings and the grounds are lovely.  The mill is really beautiful and the spacious and extrememly attractive presentation of the room was a joy.Your attention to detail was second to none and the pool was such a pleasure at the end of a day out.

Thankyou for an amazing 5 days”

Alison and Guy,  New Forest, England, June 2023

“Le Moulin d’Alos offers a rural French idyll: with a royal welcome from your kind English-speaking hosts: excellent advice on local activities, walks and sightseeing, and fine dining in the evenings.Be lulled asleep by a frog chorus as the moon rises above the trees, wake peacefully in your comfortable bed to an orchestral morning chorus of birdsong and breakfast on the terrace – lounge in the orchard or sunbathe by the swimming pool.  Rest and enjoy – we did!”

Josie and Ian, England, June 2023

“The most lovely tranquil place; breakfast each morning under an arbour of vine and wisteria, was a treat, and if you persuade Jo and Steve to cook an evening meal for you it will be absolutely delicious. Our bedroom was extremely comfortable with everything you might need and Jo and Steve were the most friendly and caring of hosts.

Gaenor and Jonathan, Great Bardfield, September 2022

“Dear Joanna and Stephen, Thank you so very much for a wonderful stay in your beautiful home. Everything was just perfect. The house, the bedding and food were exceptional, but it was you two that put the icing on the cake.Keep doing what you do so well!”

Paul and Lynn, Suffolk, England  June 2022 and June 2024

In the rolling hills near Cordes in the Tarn, we recently made a beautiful discovery: the 18th century water mill of Alos, renovated into a chambre and table d’hôtes.  Fortified by delicious breakfasts, and with the friendly and helpful advice of our welcoming and caring hosts we did some half day hikes, enjoying the magnificent scenery of the region. When we got tired of walking we did less energetic activities such as sampling the Tarn’s rich history by exploring Albigensian bastide towns, abbeys and museums. Before sitting down to a delicious dinner every evening, the large garden provided an inviting place for reading.

At Le Moulin d’Alos we experienced and enjoyed the real spirit of what a ‘chambre d’hôte’ should be: where one feels relaxed with friendly, attentive hosts who like meeting with their guests, sharing information and having interesting discussions.

Five wonderful vacation days just flew by.”

This is a stunning place, set in a little valley away from traffic and any disturbance, totally tranquil. The hosts are also delightful and have created a wonderful chambre d’hotes. The rooms are big and finished to a very high standard. One of the most comfortable beds we’ve ever experienced. Very tempting to have a lie-in! Table d’hotes also available and equally delightful. Highly recommended.
